DOUKAKIS LEONIDAS
Leonidas K. Doukakis is Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Personnel at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He is Professor of Financial Accounting in the Department of Accounting and Finance at AUEB, and has previously served as Assistant Professor of Financial Accounting at HEC, University of Lausanne. He has also taught at the University of Bern, as well as at other universities in Greece and abroad. In addition, he has served as Vice-President for Finance, Planning and Development and as a member of the Governing Committee of the Hellenic Open University.
His research activity focuses on financial accounting, financial statement analysis and business valuation, earnings management, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions accounting. He has participated in national and European research projects in the fields of energy, transport, costing, and unemployment benefits.
He has published in international academic journals, including the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, European Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Accounting and Business Research, The International Journal of Accounting, and International Review of Financial Analysis. His research has been presented at international conferences and at universities abroad, and he serves on the Editorial Board of The International Journal of Accounting and as a reviewer for international academic journals.
He also has extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as in Executive MBA programs. Prior to his academic career, he worked at Emporiki Bank and as a Financial Advisor at the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
He holds a PhD in Financial Accounting from AUEB, for which he received a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), and a Master's degree in International Accounting and Finance from the University of Strathclyde. He has also received the Research Excellence Award and the Award for Outstanding Teaching Performance from AUEB.
