Zografos Konstantinos
Konstantinos G. Zografos is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), Director of the Transportation Systems and Logistics Laboratory (TRANSLOG), and Coordinator of the Transportation and Logistics Specialization of the MBA International Program. Prior to his appointment at AUEB, Professor Zografos served on the faculty of : i) the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, U.S.A., ii) the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), and iii) the University of Patras. His professional expertise, research and teaching interests include: Applications of Operations Research and Information Systems in Transportation Systems and Logistics with particular emphasis on: Optimisation of logistical Decisions, Fleet Management, Vehicle Routing and Scheduling, Supply Chain Performance Assessment, Incident Management and Emergency Response Logistics, Airport Planning and Operations, Transportation of Hazardous Materials, Transportation Policy, Transportation Pricing, Risk Assessment, and Project Management and Evaluation.
Professor Zografos has published more than 100 papers and has been an expert for the evaluation of R&D projects funded by the European Commission (DG TREN, DG INFSO, DG RESEARCH) and the Greek Secretariat of Research and Technology. He has been a member of the CREST Ad-hoc group on Transport, a member of the Panel for the preparation of the 4th Framework Program in Air Transport of DG VII and DG XIII of the European Commission, and a member of the Management Committee (expert on Transportation issues) on Competitive and Sustainable Growth of the 5th Framework Programme of the European Commission. He has been/is a reviewer of the following journals: "Operations Research", "Transportation Science", "Transportation Research Record", "IEEE Transactions on Systems Man and Cybernetics", "Transportation Research", "ASCE Transportation Engineering Journal", "Management Science, "Information Systems and Operations Research", "European Journal of Operations Research", "Transportation Research PART C", and "Transportation Research - PART Α". Professor Zografos has been the editor of the special issue of Transportation Science on Hazardous Material Transportation and of the Proceedings of the ASCE International Conference on Hazardous Materials Transportation (State and Local issues in Transportation of Hazardous Materials: Towards a National Strategy), and he is a member of the Editorial Board of Transportation Research – Part C, Operational Research: An International Journal, Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory Journal, and International Journal of Logistics Economics and Globalisation.
Professor Zografos has served as a vice-chair of UTD-ASCE committee of Hazardous Materials Transportation and is a member of the following committees : i) Transportation and Development Institute’s (T&DI) Advanced Technology Committee, ii) TRB Committee on Airfield and Airspace Capacity and Delay (AV060), iii) TRB Committee on Freight Transportation Planning and Logistics (AT015), and iv) TRB Committee on Transportation Network Modeling (ADB30). He is also a member of : i) the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), and ii) the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).
Professor Zografos has served as a consultant to governmental agencies, companies and international organizations, in USA, Europe and Greece and has been involved as a principal investigator in more than 60 R&D projects funded by the European Commission DG TREN, and DG INFSO, DGRESEARCH, the Greek Secretariat for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications, the Civil Aviation Authority, and the Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works.
Professor Zografos has received : i) the ENO Foundation for Transportation award in 1986 ii) the “Excellence in Teaching Award for 2003-2004” of the MBA International Programme of the Athens University of Economics and Business, iii) the 2005 Franz Edelman Finalist Award of The Institute For Operations Research and The Management Sciences (INFORMS) for Achievement in Management Science and Operations Research, and iv) the 2005 President's Medal Award of the British Operational Research Society.
