Pantelis Kammas is an Associate Professor of Economics in the Department of International and European Economic Studies (DIEES) at Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from AUEB, where his dissertation examined international tax competition and the constraints that globalization places on the formulation and implementation of national fiscal policies. Prior to joining the faculty at AUEB, he held teaching positions at the University of Cyprus (2008–2009) and the University of Ioannina (2009–2018).

His research lies at the intersection of Public Economics, Political Economy, and Economic History. More specifically, it explores how political incentives, and institutional frameworks shape the design of fiscal policy across countries, as well as the long-term determinants of states' fiscal capacity. His works have been published in leading international journals, including the European Economic Review, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Public Choice, Explorations in Economic History, Journal of Comparative Economics and Economics Letters among others.
