Access to ScienceDirect AI

We would like to inform you about the access activation to the ScienceDirect AI service for all members of the academic community by the Hellenic Academic Libraries Association (HEAL-Link) in collaboration with Elsevier publisher.

ScienceDirect AI (SD AI), which is part of LeapSpace, is an Artificial Intelligence system, which has been developed to provide reliable information from scientific literature. The reliability of SD AI is based on the very broad database Science Direct from which it derives information, as well as on the fact that it minimizes the possibility of inaccurate information (hallucinations) by combining different Large Language Models. With SD AI, the academic and research community will be able to explore, compare and highlight information from the full texts of 23 million peer-reviewed scientific publications and volume chapters, with regular content enrichment and updating. As a result, SD AI will provide authoritative scientific information and at the same time save significant time to the Greek academic and research community.

Some features that distinguish SD AI from all existing AI systems are:

  • Submitting queries in natural language to retrieve the desired information.
  • Summary responses from SD AI, including references within the text of the response, refer directly to the source content and are linked to the Mendeley Literature Management Platform.
  • Ability to summarize objectives, materials, methods and results between publications.

For more information on SD AI, please see here. More information about LeapSpaceTM can be found here.

In collaboration with Elsevier, HEAL-Link will provide regular training on SD AI so that users can fully benefit from the capabilities of this new service. See the presentation of the 1st training here. With the availability of SD AI, HEAL-Link offers the Greek academic and research community a state-of-the-art tool, which is believed to enhance the process of research production in our country.

Access is already active through the HEAL-Link page or directly to the publisher's link via IP addresses. For technical issues or clarifications, you can contact AUEB Library & Information Center through Ask a Librarian  service.
