VASILAKIS ANDREAS ALEXANDROS

Andreas-Alexandros Vasilakis is an Assistant Professor of Computer Graphics at the Department of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) and a member of the AUEB Computer Graphics Group. His research focuses on photorealistic rendering, geometry processing and animation, web and neural rendering, and virtual & augmented reality. He received his B.Sc. in Computer Science (2006, valedictorian), and his M.Sc. (2008) and Ph.D. (2014) degrees from the University of Ioannina. His postgraduate research was supported by doctoral and postdoctoral scholarships. He was a postdoctoral researcher at CERTH (2016-2017) and worked as a senior graphics software engineer at Think Silicon (2017-2018).
He was also co-founder and CEO of Phasmatic (2022-2025), an R&D company specializing in visualization & reconstruction with 3D & AI. Since 2020, Prof. Vasilakis has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in computer graphics, interaction design, XR, and programming. He has participated in over 20 national and European R&D projects, has co-authored 35 scientific publications, and has served on the program committees of international conferences such as SIGGRAPH, Eurographics, GRAPP, and CASA.
He is a member of the Eurographics Association, ACM Greek SIGCHI, and Hellenic Informatics Union.
