Marias Giannis
Dr Giannis F. Marias received his Diploma in computer and software engineering from Polytechnic School of the University of Patras in 1995 and his PhD degree in informatics and telecommunications from the University of Athens in 2004. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), and he is a faculty member of the Mobile Multimedia and Communications and Information Security Labs. He also serves as a Tutor at the Department of Informatics of the Hellenic Open University. He has participated in several projects realized in the context of EC frameworks (RACE, ACTS, IST, ICT) and several national R&D initiatives. Recently he was involved on the FP7 project PURSUIT, a project concerned with a system-level approach to re-designing current Internet based on the ICN paradigm. He has granted R&D funding from the industry and the national authorities, and has coordinated national-wide projects related to the network, system and information security and privacy. He has awarded with the Ericsson Student Award on Excellence in Telecommunications in 2005. He has published more than 70 refereed journal, conference, workshop papers and book chapters, and he has served in several conferences and workshops as TPC member, chair or organizer. He has two national patents submissions, related to mobile applications and security. His current research interests are in the fields of security and privacy in future internet wireless, mobile, cloud, personal and tiny-devices communications and information sharing, spectrum management and information centric networking.
