IBT
On Friday, October 10, the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) - Greece’s leading institution in the fields of economics and management—proudly launched its new English-taught Bachelor in International Business and Technology (IBT – ibt.aueb.gr).
The IBT is a four-year degree program taught entirely in English, designed for ambitious international students who wish to study in Greece, at the intersection of business and technology. Its curriculum covers a wide range of subjects: from management and corporate resource development, microeconomic analysis, finance, strategy, entrepreneurship, and digital marketing, to information systems management, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, data analytics, and cybersecurity.
The IBT program equips graduates to take on leadership roles in an increasingly globalized business environment and to shape future developments in the technology sector—reflecting AUEB’s reputation for academic excellence and innovation.
During the program’s opening day, the first cohort of 25 international students—coming from countries such as Germany, Italy, the USA, Vietnam, China, South Africa, and Egypt—was officially welcomed by the Rector of AUEB, Professor Vassilis Vasdekis. The Program Director, Associate Professor Dimitris Manolopoulos, addressed the new students and provided key information about the program. The Vice Rector for International Cooperation and Growth, Professor Nancy Pouloudi, warmly welcomed the students to Athens. Associate Professor Charalambos Saridakis then presented the program and the University’s facilities and services available to students.
Following the ceremony, the IBT international students joined AUEB’s Greek undergraduates, who were also beginning their studies, to celebrate the start of their academic journey—setting the foundation for a successful year ahead.
Rector Professor Vassilis Vasdekis stated: “The establishment of this new English-taught undergraduate program is part of AUEB’s broader strategy for extroversion and internationalization—key pillars of our institutional vision. This strategy is grounded in a culture of open and ongoing dialogue and collaboration with the international academic community, cultivated and expanded over many decades. We warmly welcome our new international students and commit to supporting them throughout their academic journey in Athens.”
Vice Rector for International Cooperation and Growth Professor Nancy Pouloudi added: “This academic year marks a new milestone in AUEB’s internationalization efforts, with the creation of the first undergraduate program offered entirely in English. The IBT represents the culmination of a three-year design effort. It is a significant investment by AUEB in the future—enriching our international outreach activities while enhancing Greece’s visibility and representation on the global educational map.”
Program Director Associate Professor Dimitris Manolopoulos emphasized: “The IBT is an investment for students seeking in-depth knowledge across all areas of international management, combined with understanding and practical experience in innovative technologies and applications. Beyond academic knowledge, the program focuses on essential skills such as communication, analytical thinking, collaboration, and teamwork. During their final semester, students will participate in a mandatory internship with companies and organizations, applying what they have learned in real-world settings and gaining valuable experience at the start of their careers.”
