AUEB had the pleasure of hosting between 9 -13 September 2024 a group of 25 visitors from Drexel University (USA). The group consisted of 23 undergraduate students from various Departments of Drexel, and their chaperones Professors Dana D'Angelo, Jodi Cataline and Ms. Jackie McCurdy.
The Drexel delegation participated in a mixed program of lectures at AUEB, as well as visits to institutions and companies in Athens. On the first day they visited the Bank of Greece, where they attended lectures on the course of the Greek economy over the last 15 years, as well as negotiations during the financial crisis, by economists Dr. Marianthi Anastasatou and AUEB Professor Spyros Blavoukos. The next day they attended a morning speech on the Greek Startup ecosystem and its development by Professor Katerina Pramatari and another by Mr Andreas Zerkoulis, co-founder of Inagros P.C., later visiting the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (ACEIn) at AUEB; in the afternoon they visited the new offices of KPMG on Syggrou Street, where they attended a presentation on family businesses by Mr. Vangelis Apostolakis. On the third day the Drexel students travelled to Nafplio, while on the fourth day they visited COSCO's premises in Piraeus where they had a tour of the premises and talked to Mr. Tasos Vamvakidis, Commercial Director της COSCO, and Mr Panagiotis Zerefos, CFO of Piraeus Container Terminal S.A.. In the afternoon students attended a lecture on Shipping at AUEB premises by Professor Manolis Kavussanos. On the last day of their visit, the focus shifted to Tourism, where they attended a lecture in the morning at the premises of the UBA by Professor Konstantinos Idounas, while in the afternoon they visited the Moxy Athens City on Stadiou Street to see in practice how a tourist unit is managed.
The visit was very successful and took place in a cordial atmosphere. The two institutions have committed to repeat the visit and are looking at ways of expanding their cooperation in other areas.
