Dr. Kalipso Karantinou is Associate Professor of Marketing at the Athens University of Economics and Business. She graduated (valedictorian) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (BSc in Communication and Mass Media), and proceeded to earn a Masters in Marketing, a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice, and a PhD in Marketing from the University of Manchester
She has extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral studies level and has won numerous awards of academic excellence for her teaching. She is also very active in professional training, teaching business executives with great success.
Her research expertise lies primarily in the areas of services marketing, tourism, professional and financial services, servicescapes and e-servicescapes, consumer behavior, resilience, consumer neuroscience, meta-analysis, innovation management, and digital transformation.
She has also won research excellence awards and her published work has appeared in leading international journals, such as the Journal of Business Research, Tourism Management, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Sociology, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Services Marketing, and Creativity and Innovation Management among others. She has also contributed to a book on Services Marketing (2015), a book on Austerity and Consumption (2023), a book on Ethical Consumption (2023), and to the Wiley Encyclopedia of Management (2014) and the Blackwell Encyclopedia of Management (2005).
She was the elected representative of Greece to the European Marketing Academy (EMAC) Executive Committee for six years (2013-2019) and has served as a member of the editorial board and as a reviewer for several academic conferences and academic journals of high standing. She is currently in charge of a strong research team with numerous ongoing research projects including a European EU-funded collaborative project on Managing Digital Transformation.
