The study was based on researcher profiles in the Scopus database. Researchers were classified into a total of 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. A total of 223,152 researchers were included in the list of top scientists for 2023, while 217,097 researchers were included in the list of top scientists for their total research work up to 2023.
