Responsibilities

The role of the Quality Assurance Unit (in accordance with the provisions of the Law 4957/2022) can be summarized in the following points:

  1. the drafting of the proposal for the structure and operation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) and its submission to the Senate for approval and publication in the Government Gazette,
  2. the development of the quality assurance and improvement policy and strategy in teaching, research and administrative work offered by the University and especially for:
    • the first, second and third cycle study programs, including the foreign language study programs,
    • the lifelong learning programs and the operational quality of the University’s Training and Lifelong Learning Center,
    • the University’s individual academic Units, Schools, Departments and Sections,
    • the operational quality of the University’s Special Account for Research Funds, the University’s Center for Research and Innovation and its Research Institutes,
    • the operational quality of the University’s individual academic or research units, such as its clinics, museums, and laboratories, including the provision of their services,
    • the operational quality of the University’s administrative services,
  3. the IQAS’ update and continuous improvement, at least every five (5) years, in accordance with the developments in the European Higher Education Area, international practices and HAHE’s guidelines,
  4. the preparation of the IQAS Manual and its submission for approval to the Senate,
  5. the periodic internal evaluation and review of the IQAS,
  6. the cooperation with the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE)for the implementation of its directions, and instructions,
  7. the exercise of any other authority assigned to the Quality Assurance Committee by the University’s Internal Operating Regulations.

The responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Service, as stated in Article 215 of Law 4957/2022 (A' 141), are the following:

  1. the execution of the decisions and the secretarial support of the Quality Assurance Committee,
  2. the submission of proposals to the Commission and preparation of material for decision making,
  3. the cooperation with HAHE and the support of the internal and external evaluation and accreditation processes, for the University, its individual academic and research units and its first, second and third cycle study programs, including foreign language study programs and cooperation programs, lifelong learning programs,
  4. the development, management, and monitoring of the IQAS and the implementation of the internal evaluation according to the IQAS quality manual,
  5. the coordination and support of the University’s procedures when implementing quality assurance,
  6. the data collection and processing by all the academic and research units, as well as the administrative services, concerning the implementation of the quality assurance of the University’s activities,
  7. the publication of data on the institutional website regarding the accreditation, the internal and external evaluation of the University and its units,
  8. the responsibility for filling out the indicators’ values in the annual achievements report for the annual distribution of the Universities regular subsidy, in accordance with article 16 of Law 4653/2020,
  9. the responsibility for updating the Quality Assurance Unit’s management system and the HAHE’s Quality Data Management System, as well as the development of their interoperability,
  10. the exercise of any other authority specified in the University’s Organization Statute and related to the Unit’s subject.
