JUNIOR BOOKKEEPER/ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT | HELIKON SHIPPING
Reports to: Financial Controller | Duration: Permanent | Location: Athens or London (in-office role)
Position Summary:
The Junior Bookkeeper/Accounts Assistant will support the accounting team by managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. The successful candidate should be working towards a professional accounting qualification, possess a keen interest in shipping, and be a fast learner with attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the Purchase Ledger for a fleet of vessels, including invoice coding, inputting, and bank reconciliation
- Oversee the invoices and accounts mailbox, ensuring timely responses to suppliers enquiries
- Reconcile Charter Hire for each period and allocate vessel revenue
- Perform regular Balance Sheet reconciliations, including inter-company reconciliations
- Assist with monthly management reports, including victualling rate analysis and crew change costs
- Assist with Year-End financial audits
- Ensure new suppliers are set up in compliance with company policies
- Assist with ad hoc projects as needed
Key Skills/Attributes:
- Strong personal drive and the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
- Currently pursuing a professional accounting qualification
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Knowledge of bookkeeping principles
- Attention to detail and ability to work well as part of a team
Experience:
- Ideally 1-3 years of experience in a similar role
- Interest in the shipping industry
- Actively pursuing or planning to pursue a professional accounting qualification (Study support offered)
