Department of Informatics

The Department of Informatics offers 65 courses. In order to graduate, students have to attend and succeed in the examinations of thirty six (36) courses and to fulfill the foreign language requirement.

Students must initially attend 15 courses that cover all areas of Informatics at a basic level, as well as 5 courses on Mathematics and 2 courses on Economics and Accounting. In addition, students select optional courses depending on the specific areas they want to study in depth. The optional courses are organized in 6 areas (of which the student must select 2). Each module is comprised of 3 compulsory courses that deal with the basic knowledge of the area, and a number of optional courses (of which the student must select 2) that allow a deeper treatment of particular subjects in the area. In addition to fulfilling the above requirements, students must complete 4 more courses selected among the courses of the department, as well as courses offered by other departments at AUEB.
